Surrey Benthic Invertebrate Monitoring Program

The City of Surrey runs an extensive benthic invertebrate monitoring program to track changes to stream health as part of stormwater management planning. Currently, Raincoast monitors 42 sampling stations at least once per year in spring and/or fall. Data has been collected since 1999 making it the longest and most comprehensive benthic invertebrate monitoring program in BC. Data is used for tracking ISMP targets and prioritizing stormwater management initiatives.
